The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State, Dr. Jibo Magayaki Jamilu, has urged Senator Abdulaziz Yari to shift his focus toward holding former Governor Bello Matawalle accountable, rather than deflecting responsibility for the security challenges in the state.
In a statement released today, Dr. Jamilu addressed Senator Yari’s call to exonerate Matawalle, questioning the logic behind avoiding scrutiny of the former governor’s role in the escalating insecurity. According to the PDP chairman, Governor Dauda Lawal has not engaged in a “blame game” but has instead prioritized transparency and accountability in confronting Zamfara’s ongoing security crisis.
Governor Lawal, who took office earlier this year, has been committed to addressing the state’s pressing issues, particularly insecurity. His approach, the statement noted, contrasts with that of previous administrations, signaling a fresh direction in leadership. Dr. Jamilu stressed that it is critical for political figures, such as Senator Yari, to support the current administration’s efforts, rather than redirecting criticism.
“It is essential for all leaders to be held accountable for their actions,” Dr. Jamilu stated, calling on Senator Yari to direct his caution and advice towards Matawalle. He emphasized the importance of collective action and accountability as the only way forward for the state.
