Sokoto Govt Reaffirms Support for Resident Communities

The Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship with resident community members across the state.

Governor Ahmad Aliyu gave the assurance through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, during an Iftar (Ramadan breakfast) and distribution of food items to resident community members in Sokoto.

The event was organised by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Resident Community Matters, Hajiya Maryam Dmaas.

Represented by the SSG, the governor expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support his administration has received from resident communities, noting that their contributions have played an important role in promoting peace and social harmony in the state.

He urged the communities to continue praying for the government and for sustained peace and stability in Sokoto State and Nigeria, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

The governor also emphasised that both the government and the people of Sokoto State do not discriminate against resident community members living in the state. He cited the example of government and boarding schools, where all students are treated equally, including in areas such as feeding and welfare.

According to him, the current administration remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises under the Smart Agenda, particularly in the area of infrastructural development across the state.

He further recalled that before assuming office, Governor Ahmad Aliyu held several meetings with leaders of resident communities to seek their support and partnership in the development of the state.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Resident Community Matters, Hajiya Maryam Dmaas, expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmad Aliyu for approving the organisation of the Ramadan Iftar for members of resident communities in the state.

She called on the communities to continue supporting the present administration in its efforts to transform Sokoto State.As part of the event, Hajiya Maryam announced the distribution of N100,000 in cash and 10 bags of 25kg rice to each leader of resident communities in Sokoto State to support them during the holy month of Ramadan.

She thanked the participants for attending the event and wished them a safe journey back to their respective destinations.
