Yari Donates ₦23 Million, food supplies to victims of Zamfara airstrike

Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has donated ₦23 million and 105 bags of food to victims of a recent Nigerian Air Force airstrike in Maradun Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement signed by Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad, Chairman of the Publicity Committee for the Senator’s political organization, the donation was made during a condolence visit to the Emir of Maradun, Sarkin Ƙaya Alhaji Garba Muhammad Tambari, at his palace on Saturday.

Represented by Hon. Muhammad Muttaƙa Rini, Federal Commissioner at the National Population Commission, Yari described the incident as the will of Allah and urged families of the victims to remain steadfast in faith.

The airstrike reportedly claimed the lives of 13 people and left 20 others injured, primarily from Kakindawa village in Gidan Goga District. Under the relief package, each family of the deceased will receive ₦1 million and five bags of food, while injured survivors will receive ₦500,000 and two bags of food each.

During the visit, Yari assured residents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Zamfara and the entire Northwest region.

Responding on behalf of the victims, the Emir of Maradun expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a testament to Yari’s dedication to his constituents. He added that the support would will alleviate the hardship faced by affected families.

The incident, which left the community in mourning, has sparked calls for greater efforts to prevent such tragedies in the future.
