The State Project Steering Committee(SPSC) for the World Bank Assisted Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment(AGILE AF Project-Zamfara) was inaugurated by Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Alh Abubakar Muhammad Nakwada reassured his administration’s commitments towards ensuring effective implementation of the project in Zamfara State.
He therefore urged the members of the SPSC to work round the clock to give out their topmost best for the state to be educationally developed through the AGILE AF Project which is timely and crucial to the state.
Speaking, the Chairman of the Committee and Zamfara State Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Malam Kabiru Attahiru pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The SPSC has a Commissioner of Education as Chairman while members were the Permanent Secretaries of Science and Technical Education, Environment, Education, Women Affairs, Youths and Sports Development, Information, Heath and Executive Chairman Teachers Service Board.
Others are the Executive Secretaries of the Female Education Board, Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Science and Technical Education Board, Agency for Mass Education, Nomadic Education, Director Planning, Research and Statistics Ministry of Education while Executive Chairman Zamfara State Universal Education Board serves as the Secretary of the committee.
The committee has a mandate of project oversight at the state level and provides overall guidance on project implementation.
Earlier, the State Project Coordinator Sa’adatu Abdu Gusau said girls were faced with challenges that hinder them from attending and completing secondary education due to socio-cultural, financial among other challenges.
Saadatu Abdu Gusau who applauded the State Governor Dauda Lawal for his passion and approval for the payment of State Counterpart Fund which qualifies the state to access the World Bank AGILE AF Project described that the effort signified Government’s unwavering resolve to amazing take-off of the project alongside other 10 states across the federation.
