Zamfara IVC: MSSN Calls for Govt action on Boarding schools, Insecurity

The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Zamfara State Area Unit, has called on government and security agencies to intensify efforts in addressing insecurity to pave the way for the reopening of boarding schools in the state.

The appeal was made by the Ameer of MSSN Zamfara, Prof. Lawal Sa’ad, during the 28th Islamic Vacation Course (IVC) 2025/1447AH held at Government Girls Arabic Secondary School (GGASS) Gusau between August 20 and 24, 2025, equivalent to 26–30 Safar, 1447AH.

Prof. Sa’ad stressed that boarding schools remain critical for nurturing discipline, moral upbringing, and quality education among children. He urged government and security agencies to work out modalities to restore normalcy and ensure students return to safe and conducive learning environments.

During the event, the former National President of MSSN, Malam Lawal Muhammad Maidoki, presented a paper on the theme “Reorganizing the Younger Generation for Challenges of the 21st Century.” He emphasized the need for proper guidance and quality training to secure a brighter future for the younger generation.

In his remarks, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Education, Wadatau Madawaki, represented by the Director of Administration, Aminu Muhammad, announced that nine boarding schools have been selected to reopen in the next academic session. These include three science schools, three technology schools, and three entrepreneurship schools, with one school from each category drawn across the state’s three senatorial zones.

Also speaking, the Emir of Anka, HRH Muhammad Attahiru Ahmad; Emir of Kaura Namoda, HRH Sanusi Mohammed Ahmad Asha; and Emir of Gusau, HRH Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello, lauded MSSN for engaging students with beneficial programs during the long vacation. They pledged continued support for the society while urging government and stakeholders to partner with the organization in shaping the moral and educational standards of students.
