Ramadan: Senator Yari to distribute 496 trucks of grains to 280,000 residents

Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Marafan Sokoto), has unveiled plans to distribute 496 trucks of assorted food items to 280,000 residents of Zamfara State as part of his 2025 Ramadan Welfare Package.

This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Chairman of the State Distribution Committee, Hon. Lawal M. Liman, Gabdon Kaura, following a meeting with state and local government committees in Gusau.

The welfare package comprises 187 trucks each of maize and millet, 93 trucks of rice, and 29 trucks of sugar. Hon. Lawal M. Liman noted that each of the state’s 14 local governments would receive 36 trucks, targeting 20,000 beneficiaries in each council, with an average of 1,500 beneficiaries from the state’s 147 wards.

The initiative aims to support less privileged individuals, orphans, and widows regardless of their political or party affiliations.

“This gesture by Senator Yari is a demonstration of his commitment to the welfare of his people. It reflects his dedication to providing support and fostering unity among the citizens of Zamfara State,” Hon. Liman said.

He added that the distribution exercise would commence on the first day of Ramadan and urged residents to pray for its success.

Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad, Chairman of the Publicity Committee, confirmed that the welfare program revealed Senator Yari’s determination to cater to the needs of Zamfara’s vulnerable populations while promoting harmony during the holy month.
