
The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 1 Brigade Chapter, Gusau, has joined the global community in marking Pink October 2025 Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a sensitization event that emphasized the importance of early detection and women’s health.
According to Mrs. Charity Okonkwo, Public Relations Officer of NAOWA 1 Brigade Chapter, the event was held on Tuesday, 14th October 2025, at the Eagles Soldiers’ Club, Nigerian Army Cantonment, Gusau, with the theme “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters.”
In her keynote address, the NAOWA Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Ramat B. Mustapha Jimoh, urged women to take charge of their health through regular breast self-examinations and screenings.
She stressed that every diagnosis represents a personal journey that deserves understanding, empathy, and support.
The event featured a health lecture by Dr. Judith Dike, who demonstrated breast self-examination techniques and discussed the benefits of early detection.
Participants also received free medical check-ups and breast cancer screenings.Mrs. Meg Indidi Ajose, NAOWA Chairperson, was specially commended for her leadership and commitment to advancing health awareness initiatives within the Brigade community.
The celebration ended with a solidarity photo session and refreshments, as participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting women’s health and supporting those affected by breast cancer.
