The abduction carried out by the armed terrorists occurred on Wednesday, 6 Nov. at about 12:45 am West African Time.

Reports confirmed that the armed gang invaded the Sado community amid heavy surveillance by the local vigilantes from the area.

“Although the armed terrorists took us unaware, our Vigilantes tried to repel the attack, the severity of the attack would have been worse than this considering the big number of the assailants who stormed the village.” Aliyu Saidu, the Village Head of the Sado community confirmed the incident to the Smarts News.

“For now we confirmed 16 people were kidnapped comprising women and children including the old people. We are not yet certain whether the number of the victims may increase as all efforts to trace the rest are ongoing.” The Village Head added.

According to another source, Malam Aminu Shehu Sado, relative of one of the kidnapped victims told Smarts News that “I received a call this morning about the incident and what just came up my mind was my friend Nasiru who left my shop earlier last night, I instantly called his number but there was no response. He has been abducted alongside his wife.”

The ghastly attack was the second to the community since last year when the first attack was launched which led to the abduction of the village head, Aliyu Sa’idu himself, who has been avoiding the area, and resettled in Morai owing to his past traumatic experience.

Relatives living in despair also gathered around the village square as many ears glued to their phones in anticipation of possible calls from the hostage takers to contact the siblings of the victims.

The community decried an uncertain situation with the displaced families scattered across neighborhoods, and the fate of the kidnapped victims.

Umar Rabiu, another relative of the abductee said “my elder brother is among those kidnapped today. We are asking the authorities and government security forces to help us trace and rescue them.”

The village dwellers are presently stranded in search of their loved ones, as they wait for information that could lead them to their loved ones.

Smarts News contacted Yahaya Abubakar Yari, Chairman Talata-Mafara Local Government Council, for comment over the incident; but could not immediately be reached to respond to the attack.
