
A night attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State has left the community in shock after bandits killed the school’s Vice Principal and abducted 25 students.
Residents said the attackers stormed the school late in the night, operating freely and causing panic across the area. A resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy that has thrown the entire Zuru Emirate into mourning.
The Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, was shot dead while trying to protect the students. Another staff member, Ali Shehu, sustained a gunshot injury to the hand.
Police have confirmed that 25 students were abducted during the raid.
According to the Kebbi State Police Command, a joint team of police tactical units, soldiers, and vigilantes has been deployed to search the bandits’ routes and nearby forests with the aim of rescuing the students and arresting the attackers.
Commissioner of Police Bello M. Sani assured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and support security efforts as the search and rescue operation continues.
