Update: 16 abductees of FUG freed so far, Military, Police operation ongoing

Following prompt response by the joint task force of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) troops of both land and air components so far 16 persons including students and laborers of the federal University Gusau (FUG) have regained freedom.

The ongoing operation which consists of Police, Nigerian Army, DSS and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have led to the rescue of 13 female students and 3 male laborers as at the time of filing this report.

‘SMARTS NEWS’ can authoritatively report that 16 among the abducted persons have so far regained freedom due to the pressure mounted on the terrorists by both air and land components who also killed scores of the bandits.

The rescued Abductees include, Rukayya Sani Batola of Education Chemistry (200 Level); Merry Monday of MicroBiology (300 Level); Maryam Salawuddeen of Accounting (300 Level); Salamatu Jummai Dahiru, Microbiology (200 Level); Fiddausi Abdulazeez of Education Biology (200 Level); and Amamatullahi Asabe Dahiru of Education Chemistry (200 Level).

Others were, Ketora Bulus of Education Physics (100 Level); Felicia Sunday of Computer Science (200 Level); Jamila Ahmad of Biochemistry (200 Level) and Aisha Aminu Ujong of Education Physics (Graduated); Mariya Abdulrahman Usman of English department (400 level); Usaina Abdulrahman of Education English (100 Level) and Sa’adatu Aminu Abubakar of Education Biology.

The rescued laborers of GUPRAN Engineering Services Ltd carrying out project in the university were Mustapha Abdullahi; Kamalu Shuaibu and Ishaq Idris

One of the rescued students said the Bandits divided them in batches as grasped from bandits conversation that some of the kidnapped students were moved to Niger state while others moved to Magami axis where she carefully sneaker into a farm while the Bandits where busy making calls.

In an interview, a house of representatives member representing Maru/Bungudu federal constituency, Abdulmalik Zubairu applauded the effort of the Hadarin Daji troops led by the sector Commander, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed who is leading the troops in the ongoing rescue operation.

Noting that the Commander has expressed agility and commitment to duty to ensure safe rescue of the kidnapped students.
