Zamfara Assembly calls for Enhanced Security Measures in Tsafe LGA

In a bid to tackle the escalating insecurity challenges in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, the State House of Assembly has called for the establishment of a permanent military base in the area.

In a press release signed and made available to SMARTS NEWS by the Chief Press Secretary of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Bello Madaro Kurya said the motion was initiated by Honourable Bello Muhammad Mazawaje Tsafe, the Majority Leader representing Tsafe East Constituency, and was seconded by Honourable Aliyu Ango Kagara, the Minority Leader representing Mafara South Constituency.

Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Honourable Bello Muhammad Mazawaje Tsafe emphasized that a permanent military presence would significantly improve the security situation in the area. He cited recent incidents where bandits employed various tactics, including disguising themselves in female attire, to carry out attacks in Tsafe Local Government area.

Acknowledging the efforts of the current administration led by Governor Dauda Lawal in addressing banditry across the state, the legislators urged vigilance against those seeking to undermine these efforts.

During the deliberations, other members representing constituencies such as Birnin Magaji, Anka, Mafara South, Maru South, Gusau Two, and Bukkuyum South expressed grave concerns over the security situation in Tsafe. They called on relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to combat banditry and kidnapping throughout the state.

In conclusion, Honourable Adamu Aliyu Gummi, the Deputy Speaker presiding over the session, announced the assembly’s resolution urging the state government to collaborate with the federal government and security agencies to establish a permanent military base in Tsafe. This, they believe, will effectively curb and prevent further attacks by bandits and other criminal activities in the area.
