COAS Pledges to pursue wanted Bandit Leader Bello Turji

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian military’s commitment to hunting down notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.

Speaking on Thursday in Gusau, Zamfara State, Oluyede assured that the army remains resolute in its mission to secure the state.

Addressing journalists at the Headquarters of Operation Fasan Yamma, he vowed that Turji’s days were numbered, emphasizing that the wanted bandit was already on the run.

“Bello Turji is fleeing, and wherever he goes, we will track him down. He can keep running, but it’s only a matter of time before he is taken out,” Oluyede declared.

Recounting recent successes, he noted that the Nigerian Army had neutralized several high-profile bandit leaders in recent months, including Samaila, Boga, and Boderi.

The military, he said, remains committed to intensifying operations to make the Northwest safer. While acknowledging challenges faced by troops, Oluyede expressed confidence in overcoming them.

He also urged Nigerians to support security forces by providing timely and relevant information to aid military operations.

During his visit, which marked his first since assuming office on October 30, 2024, Oluyede inspected the quarter guard under tight security before receiving an operational briefing from the Theatre Commander, Major General Oluyinka Soyele.

Operation Fasan Yamma continues to play a crucial role in the army’s efforts to restore peace and stability in the Northwest, a region plagued by banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats.
