Joint Task Force Northwest troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have rescued kidnapped victims at Magani community of Zamfara State.
The victims were rescued when the troops responded to a distress call on the kidnap of 6 persons in the community.
A military officer who hinted to our reporter about the operation said, the troops who immediately moved to the scene of the event and on sighting the troops advancing, the bandits opened fire on the troops in an attempt to flee with the victims.
However, due to superior firepower of the OPHD troops, some of the kidnapped victims were rescued while others fled for safety and now search efforts are ongoing to find the remaining victims who scattered in the forest.
Moreover, our source said 2 bandits were killed, Items that included 1 AK 47 rifle, 3 7.62mm Special ammunition, 6 Automatic Grenade Launcher Bombs, sum of N3,700 and 2 Magazines were recoverd from the fleeing bandits.
