Brigadier General Sani Ahmed has officially assumed command of the 6 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army.
The event, held at the Headquarters 6 Division Garrison in Port Harcourt Barracks, also marks General Ahmed’s appointment as the Commander of Sector 3, Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe (JTF SS OPDS).
In a statement signed by the Army Public Relations Officer, 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army , Lieutenant Nkuma MBA, said during the formal ceremony, the out going commander, Brigadier General Eu Effiong, addressed the officers and soldiers of the Garrison at the Garrison MT Yard.
He commended the personnel for their unwavering support throughout his tenure, urging them to maintain their discipline and dedication under the new leadership.
He expressed confidence in General Ahmed’s ability to lead, noting his previous experience as the Commander of Sector 1 Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji and describing him as a “reliable Infantry General with impeccable character.”
In his remarks, Brigadier General S Ahmed paid tribute to his predecessor’s achievements, expressing a desire for continued guidance as he takes on the new role. He emphasized his commitment to working with the Garrison’s officers and soldiers to ensure peace and stability in the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
The event concluded with the formal signing of the Handing and Taking Over notes, the Handing over of the Command Flag, and a Quarter guard parade.
Brigadier General Ahmed previously served as the Commander of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army in Gusau before his current appointment.
