FEDPONAM Governing Council assumes duty, vows to restore institution’s glory 

Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha officially assumed his role as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda on Tuesday, 13th August 2024. 

The new Chairman, along with all other council members, began their tenure with a commitment to transparency, accountability, and fairness in all their dealings.

During the inaugural meeting of the 10th Governing Council, Alhaji Mustapha emphasized that the primary goals of the council are the growth and development of the institution. He pledged to lead efforts to make the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda the best polytechnic in the country, stating that the council’s role is to serve and act as partners in progress.

He therefore appealed to all stakeholders to support them in achieving the desired objectives.

In his address, Alhaji Mustapha also paid a familiarization visit to the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Major Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha (Rtd). He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Polytechnic’s Governing Council, the Emirate, and the host community to achieve success. 

In a separate meeting with students, the Chairman advised them to steer clear of social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, and examination malpractice. He encouraged the students to focus on their studies to ensure a bright future.

Expressing his gratitude, Alhaji Mustapha, who previously served as the Head of Service of Kaduna State, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing him and the other council members to lead the prestigious institution. He vowed to justify the trust placed in them by the President.

The Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda’s Governing Council includes notable figures such as Hon. Uche Obiozor, Hon. Umaru Gambo, Hon Olatunde Dare and Hon. Muftau Adewale Egberongbe, all of whom were appointed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Other council members include Ag. Rector QS Jonathan I Mordi, Deputy Rector administration Dr Yusuf M Nasir and Ag. Deputy Academics Mr Jacob Ebozoji, Mrs. Dorcas T. Gideon, representing the Federal Ministry of Education; HRH Dr. Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha, Emir of Kaura Namoda, representing the host community; and Abdulrazak Bello Kaura, National President of the Alumni, representing the Alumni while Malam Mahi Isah, the registrar of the institution serves as the council’s secretary.

The council is further strengthened by representatives from the Polytechnic’s congregation, including Dr. Abdulkarim Ibrahim Afolabi, Ado Samuel, and Abubakar Sadiq Bala, as well as Dr. Odu O. Agada and Bello Mukhtar, who represent the Academic Board.

The Polytechnic comprises six schools with 25 departments, including the School of Agricultural Technology, the School of Business and Management Studies, the School of Environmental Studies, the School of Engineering Technology, the School of General Studies, and the School of Science and Technology.
