Police Service Commission appoints Usman Nagogo, 3 others as DIGs

The Police service commission (PSC) has appointed Usman Nagogo as Deputy Inspector General of Police (FIGs) alongside other 3 appointees.

In a press release signed and made available to journalists by the Head, Press and Public Relations, of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, today (Monday) saying the PSC has approved the appointment of four Assistant Inspectors General of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors General of Police  which would be subject to ratification by the Board of the Commission to replace the retired DIGs.

The appointment emanated from compulsory retirement of four DIGs following appointment of acting inspector general of Police. The affected DIGs were Dan-Mallam Mohammed, Moses Ambakina Jitiboh, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa and Adeleke Adeyinka Bode.

“In the wake of the appointment of the acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun on the 19th of June, 2023 by Mr. President, the Commission had expected  in consonance with the revered  tradition of discipline  and regimented culture of the Nigeria Police Force that those DIGS who were seniors in rank prior to his elevation will voluntarily apply for retirement  or elect to leave the Force.” PSC explain 

DIG Usman Nagogo was appointed alongside other DIG’s Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje; Daniel  Sokari – Pedro and Ayuba Ekpeji 

“The newly appointed DIGs who are without Pending Disciplinary Matters and/or without any serious medical conditions  and health impairments were drawn from the same respective geo-political regions of the retired ones.

DIG Usman Nagogo was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 1990 as Cadet ASP.  He held several positions in the NPF that include Commander IGP Project Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja. 

Nagogo was a Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command from 2019 to 2020 and Commissioner of Police Force Intelligence Department, where he was promoted to the Rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police in 2021 and posted to Border Patrol Force Headquarters, Abuja as AIG Border Patrol, the position he held until his today’s appointment by the Police Service Commission as Deputy Inspector General of Police.

DIG Nagogo is a writer also, who translated many islamic Books among them were AHDA’UL-MUSALLIEN (The mistakes of worshipers during prayers); LA-YAHAZAN (Don’t be angry) among many othersHe is memorizes the holy Qur’an coaches many to memorize it.

While congratulating the appointed officers for their elevation to the enviable  rank of DIGs, the Commission  hopes that their appointment  will add value and greater vigour to the efforts of the Nigeria Police in delivering  on its mandate.
