Sokoto Security Adviser, Col Ahmed Usman bags Traditional title

The Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Security, Colonel Ahmed Usman (rtd) has been conferred with a traditional Title of Sadaukin Gwadabawa.

The title was bestowed on him by the Sarkin Gobir of Gwadabawa, Alhaji Lawal Zayyana.

A letter signed by the monarch, said the title was in recognition of his contribution to the development of their community and the state.

Sarkin Gobir however, urged him not only to maintain the tempo but to continue to work towards the realization of a lasting peace in the state.

Colonel Usman hailed from Gwadabawa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.  He was enlisted into the Nigerian Army as a member of Direct Regular Commission cadet through course 10 and commissioned as Sapper officer on 4th March 2000.

He held several positions in the Army, including Instructor, Staff officer and Cantonment Maintenance officer . He participated in several peacekeeping missions around the globe in the course of his 20 years in service.

His last unit in the army before retirement was at Multinational Joint Taskforce Mongonu in Maiduguri in 2019.

He was a recipient of several prestigious awards and medals.  After voluntarily leaving the service in 2019, he ventured into private business and consultancy security services . He even worked at the department of Safety and Security of the United Nations between  2019 and 2020. 

Colonel Usman retired and is currently the Special Adviser to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto state on Security Matters.

In his acceptance speech, Col Usman thanked Sarkin Gobir and the entire people of Gwadabawa for finding him worthy of the prestigious title of Sadauki.

“I’m indeed indebted to the Gwadabawa district. I will continue to contribute my quarter towards the continuous development of the community,” he said 

As a Special Adviser on Security, he promised to continue to offer useful advice to the Governor that would bring lasting peace in the state.
