A community based organisation, Zamfara Circle Community Initiative, has accused suspected political thugs for disruption and looting of food items provided by the former governor of Zamfara State and senator elect for Zamfara west Alh. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar for distribution to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the state.
The organisation made the disclosure in a press release signed by the Circle’s Chairman, Dr. Aminu Lawal and made available to MEDIA SMARTS NIGERIA in the late hours of yesterday (Monday) in Gusau, the state capital.
He lamented that politicians and political thugs have attacked the officials of the Zamfara circle in Bakura local government area while distributing of food items donated by a former governor of Zamfara state, Senator-elect Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar for Internally Displayed Persons (IDPs) across the state.
“Distribution of food items donated by H.E
Sen. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has been ongoing. So far, Bungudu and Maru Local Government Chapters have successfully distributed their allocated items.
“However, the Circle regrets to inform the general public that the distribution in Bakura Local Government was marred by thugs who felt they will not allow members of the Circle in the local government to man the distribution.
“As a result, in addition to the looting of about 102 bags of rice and 20 bags of sugar meant for IDPs, the lives of our members in the local government are at risk.” He lamented.
The organisation who copied security agencies about the development also claimed that the attack was jointly executed by a group of 8 politicians and 10 thugs as they have their names in records.
Sequel to the development, the organisation has consiquently suspended the distribution exercise until further notice.
“The Circle therefore resolves to suspend all distribution across the state until these thugs are called to order by their leaders.”
The Circle whi described the attack as life threatening said “should anything happen to any of our members in Bakura, the above named persons are to be held responsible.”
Recalled that, MEDIA SMARTS NIGERIA has on Saturday, April 1, 2023, reported that Zamfara Circle received 32 trucks of assorted food items donated by His Excellency Sen.
