Zamfara State APC has Initiated legal proceedings regarding ZASIEC’s scheduling of local Government Council Elections slated to hold on 16th November, 2024.
The APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris made this known during a conference organized by the APC at its headquarters in Gusau today.
Malam Yusuf said that the All Progressives Congress APC has uncovered a grand plot by the Zamfara State government that involves using the state’s Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) to rig elections for local government councils.
The APC further alleged that in complete disregard of the established rules and the principle of fair play, a member of the PDP card is being used as the chairman of the commission to perpetrate injustice and harm other political parties and citizens. This is done by preventing candidates from other political parties from adequately participating in the electoral process, which is a clear violation of the electoral act.
This he said would not be allowed to go unchallenged as the APC has already filed the case before the Federal High Court to challenging appointment of a card member of APC as the Chairman ZASIEC
On October 14, 2024, Bala Aliyu Gusau, immediately after taking his oath of office and allegiance, announced a date for the local government election without first reporting to his office or reviewing his responsibilities and schedule.
He abruptly declared that the elections would be held on November 16, 2024, as directed by Governor Dauda Lawal, within just 30 days of his swearing-in. This decision disregarded the constitutional requirement that political parties be given three months’ notice before an election.
Malam Yusuf on behalf of the APC finally expressed happiness and warmly welcomed the Hon. Member Engr. Sulaiman Abubakar Mahmud Gummi who dumped APC for APC and assured him and supporters of all rghts and privileges accorded to its members, disclosing that arrangement to receive him in Gummi are in the pipeline .
