
The Zamfara State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba as the new Commissioner of Police.

He replaces CP Muhammad Dalijan Shehu, who has been promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and redeployed to the Counter-Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, CP Maikaba brings extensive experience from various police formations across Nigeria.
His past roles include Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in multiple states, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in key strategic units, and Commissioner of Police (CP) at the Ports Authority Police Command in Lagos.
Born in Nasarawa LGA of Kano State, CP Maikaba earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Bayero University, Kano, and joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
The new police chief has pledged to build on his predecessor’s achievements, focusing on intelligence-led policing, crime prevention, and strengthening community engagement to enhance security in Zamfara.
