The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accidental airstrike in Tungar Kara, Gidan Goga District of Maradun local government area, which claimed the lives of innocent civilians, including members of the Community Protection Guard (CPG) and vigilantes.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Zamfara, particularly the families of those who lost their lives. “We pray Allah to accept their martyrdom and grant their families the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” the statement read.
The party also commended the ongoing military efforts to combat banditry in the state, highlighting recent successes by Operation Fasan Yamma, which reportedly dismantled several bandit hideouts and eliminated over 25 terrorists in Fakai, an enclave under notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
The APC noted that this intensified offensive has forced many bandits to abandon their hideouts, with Turji himself now believed to be on the run.
“This operational strategy is quite impressive and should be sustained with the support of all peace-loving citizens,” the statement added.
The party lauded the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, for their commitment to addressing the security challenges in Zamfara and the Northwest region.
The APC, however, called for a thorough investigation into the accidental airstrike to prevent a recurrence, urging the authorities to ensure such tragedies do not undermine the ongoing fight against banditry.
