Bandits Abduct 14 in Fresh Zamfara Attack

By Muhammad Sani, Gusau

Fourteen people have been abducted after armed bandits launched a fresh attack on Tsohuwar Tasha village in Ruwan Doruwa Ward of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

The attack occurred at about 3:45 a.m. today (Sunday) when the assailants invaded the community, taking away 11 women and three children. They also killed a resident, Alhaji Rabe, who reportedly resisted being taken away.

The Village Head, Alhaji Mahmud Bello, confirmed the incident, saying the attackers struck while residents were asleep.

“They broke into our homes forcefully, and we had no weapons to confront them. Our men could only lie helplessly on the ground while our wives screamed for help,” he said.

A resident, Alhaji Usman Ali, who witnessed the killing of Alhaji Rabe, recounted the tense moments.“I heard him telling his wives not to follow the terrorists and to run. Then a gunshot followed. My heart sank, and I didn’t hear his voice again,” he narrated.

Another resident, Yakubu Dogo, described the attack as the worst the community had experienced.“They have attacked this village twice and our neighbouring Masama twice, but they never killed or abducted anyone. What happened last night was terrible and devastating,” he said.

Meanwhile, village vigilantes and a joint surveillance team from Tsohuwar Tasha and Ruwan Doruwa have begun a search operation to ascertain the status of more victims who may also have been abducted.
