The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has arrived at the Headquarters of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Gusau, Zamfara State, on an operational visit aimed at reinforcing ongoing military operations in the Northwest.

The visit follows the recent abduction of students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Kebbi State, an incident that has further raised security concerns across the region. Operation FANSAN YAMMA coordinates counter-banditry operations in all Northwestern states.
Prior to his arrival in Gusau, the Army Chief visited GGCSS Maga and troops deployed in Kebbi to assess the situation and encourage personnel involved in the rescue efforts.
He is currently in a closed-door briefing with senior officers of the command to evaluate current operations and plan improved strategies to tackle rising threats.

Lieutenant General Shaibu is accompanied by top military officials, including representatives of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal S. K. Aneke. Other high-ranking officers from various services are also part of the delegation.
