An early-morning explosion along the Gurusu–Gwashi Road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State has claimed the lives of all passengers travelling in a commercial vehicle.
Security sources said the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. after bandits allegedly planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the roadway.
The bomb went off as a Toyota ‘Eagle Eye’ vehicle passed over it, leaving the victims “beyond recognition.”
A source within the Zamfara Police Command confirmed the attack, noting that tactical operatives and the Anti-Bomb Squad have already arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough assessment and gather evidence.
He explained that the exact number of victims is yet to be determined, as investigations are still underway.
