Zamfara Govt Honours Fallen Heroes, Vows to Continue Supporting Securities

The Zamfara State Government has paid tribute to fallen members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies who lost their lives in the defence of Nigeria.

Speaking at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day held on today at the Trade Fair Centre, Gusau, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Nakwada, who represented Governor Dauda Lawal, said the sacrifices of the fallen heroes would never be forgotten.

He noted that Zamfara State has faced serious security challenges in recent years but praised the Armed Forces and security personnel for their courage and commitment in restoring peace and stability across the state.

Nakwada assured the military and other security agencies of the state government’s continued support, especially in the areas of logistics, welfare and intelligence-driven operations, in collaboration with the Federal Government.

He also sympathised with the families of fallen officers, particularly widows and children, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve their welfare.

The SSG called on residents to support security agencies through cooperation and timely information sharing, urging all citizens to promote unity, peace and patriotism in the state.

The Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day was attended by the Theatre Commander Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Warrah Idris; Commander 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Mustapha Jimoh, Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, Legislatures, Chief Judge, traditional leaders among others.
