GOC 6 division harps for functional synergy among security agencies

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army/ Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Jamal Abdussalam has called for functional collaboration among security agencies,  particularly the Armed Forces of Nigeria(AFN).

Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, Major Danjuma Jonah Danjuma who made this known in a Press release he signed and made available to SMARTS NEWS said, General Jamal made the call when Commandant, Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS), Onne, Commodore Gideon Kachim paid him a courtesy call at  Headquarters 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The GOC remarked that the AFN is an entity with a lot of branches, operating along different functional lines for the same purpose.

According to him, the relationship is essentially to protect and defend the nation’s interests in  maintaining and contributing to national defence in line with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

General Jamal Abdussalam who congratulated the Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS), Onne, on his appointment, reiterated that he has confidence that he will turn around the fortune of NNBTS.

He further said that the school, like the Depot Nigerian Army, is a place where civilians are broken into military personnel. Hence, the need to inculcate in them abinitio the concept of synergy in the AFN.

“They need to know that both the NA and the NN are one entity, performing different  functions,” he said .

He then assured that the 6 Division is always ready to support the school in whatever way possible.

Earlier, the Commandant said the NNBTS and sister Services have always been in collaboration and as such he deemed it fit to pay a courtesy call on the GOC, since he assumed office as the Commandant.

Speaking further, Commodore Gideon Kachim  stated that the school is tasked with the responsibility of  training civilians to become war machines required by  the Navy.

He therefore insisted on the importance of synergy, saying during training, the school invites sister Services to give their own perception on certain topics. Hence, from time to time, they would leverage on such opportunities.

Commodore Kachim also used the platform to solicit support and assistance from the 6 Division if the need arises and expressed optimism that the school will also assist in accomplishing the GOC’s mission and the command philosophy of the COAS.
