Hunger: NLC Protest records low turnout in Zamfara

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Zamfara State Council has joined their counterparts in the country to protest the high cost of living occasioned by the removal of the Fuel subsidy by the federal government.

The protest which recorded low turnout of workers was led by the NLC Chairperson of the state Sani Halliru alongside other officials or the Congress escorted by security operatives.

The State NLC Chairperson Haliru who led the protesters to the office of the Zamfara state government Head of service, Barrister Sanusi Liman, highlighted issues that prompted the labor unions to stage this peaceful protest to register their grievances to the government including the prevailing insecurity, high inflation, and poor remuneration to workers.

NLC Boss in Zamfara claimed that President Bola Tinubu was elected to serve Nigerians but instead chose to serve his interest against the collective interest of all Nigerians.

The Labour Unions decried the high cost of living which makes it difficult for  Nigerians to afford one square meal a day, and tje lingering insecurity bedeviling the state and the country that pushed Nigerias into a state of uncertainty and even deny them access to their farmlands.

While receiving the protesters, Zamfara State Head of Service, Sanusi Liman who received them on behalf of the State government, assured them that the state government led by governor Dauda Lawal  would properly address all the issues raised by organized labor.

The protest which took off from the NLC Secretariat at Gada Biyu area in Gusau Metropolis to the Head of Service office back to the Labour House where it terminated, with operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Service, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) who protected the peaceful protesters. 

Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress (TUC),  however, could not join the organized labor peaceful protest in Zamfara State, even though, the state chairman of the TUC could not reach to have their reasons for boycotting the planned protest.
