The Katsina State Government has lauded a joint security operation that led to the killing of 80 bandits and the destruction of several hideouts in Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement signed by Dr. Nasir Muazu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the government highlighted the collaboration between the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes.
The operation, carried out on January 4, 2025, targeted camps in Kadoji, Matso-Matso, Bagga, Dogon Marke, and Takatsaba areas.
The offensive followed credible intelligence reports revealing the establishment of bandit camps responsible for escalating criminal activities in Jibia, Batsari, and Batagarawa Local Government Areas.
The operation not only neutralized 80 bandits but also left several others injured and dismantled critical operational facilities, dealing a severe blow to the bandits’ capabilities.
The government expressed profound gratitude for the dedication of the joint security forces in ensuring peace and stability in Katsina and the broader North West region.
