The Federal government of Nigeria has disbursed the sum of N135,479,884,67.02 billion to States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES), following the second independent assessment of results achieved by the program.
An information released by the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and obtained by the SMARTS NEWS, indicates that the top three best performing states in this second round of the assessment are Nasarawa which earned a whopping sum of N13,697,828,496.96, Cross River N10,944,747,818.84 and Zamfara N10,231,055,267.82.
On the other hand, Imo, Katsina and Benue were the least performing states after the assessment earning N00.00; N159,826,084.24 and N370,859,645.15 respectively.
The NG-CARES Programme is a World Bank-assisted $750 million performance for results initiative of the Federal Government strategically designed to serve as a shock response mechanism and distribution channel for reaching the poor and vulnerable in the country.
It is being implemented through 158 integrated Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of all the 36 State Governments and FCT Administration.
