Self-employment: NDE empowers 28 Zamfara youths with starter pack

In a bid to combat unemployment and promote economic empowerment and entrepreneurship in Zamfara State, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has distributed starter packs to twenty-eight graduates of the Community Based Training Scheme (CBTS). 

During the ceremony, held in Gusau, the Director General of the NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, was represented by the State Coordinator, Hamza Kolo Hadiza and called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the packs. 

The Director General expressed enthusiasm and stressed the importance of the event, underscoring NDE’s dedication to extending its impact, particularly in rural areas. 

He outlined the NDE’s role in equipping artisans with specialized skills to foster economic growth and announced the provision of starter packs in various skill areas such as GSM Repairs, Computer Appreciation, Knitting, Fashion Design, and Make-up, with the aim of assisting CBTS graduates, generating employment opportunities, offering management support services, and coordinating efforts with governmental and non-governmental organizations. 

The Director General encouraged beneficiaries to seize the opportunities presented and emphasized the significance of their selection for the program. While several beneficiaries expressed gratitude and pledged to utilize the resources effectively. 

The distributed starter packs included laptops, GSM repair kits, knitting machines, sewing machines, among others.
