
The Sokoto State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Zayyana, has unveiled a strategic roadmap for 2025 aimed at accelerating the state’s economic development.

Dr. Zayyana, while speaking at the unveiling, revealed that upon assuming office, he drafted a preliminary plan and sought contributions from all departments to ensure a well-rounded and achievable direction.
“I told the management of the ministry that I am coming with a roadmap at its sketchy stage, and it needs their inputs to work effectively and hold them accountable,” he said.
He disclosed that all departments had submitted their planned activities for 2025, including purposes, timelines, costs, potential risks, and mitigation strategies.
According to him, this detailed approach aims to ensure the effective implementation of the ministry’s objectives.Dr. Zayyana also emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating that department heads and their teams are expected to deliver 100% results.
To streamline operations, the roadmap will be integrated into a software system that sends email alerts to directors about upcoming tasks and tracks performance, helping to identify areas for improvement.
The Commissioner noted that the roadmap aligns with Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s nine-point agenda and aims to position the ministry as a driving force for economic transformation in Sokoto State.
He further announced plans to hold biweekly management meetings to evaluate progress, address challenges, and enhance departmental output.
Commenting on the initiative, Permanent Secretary Hajiya Maryam Ahmad Barade lauded Dr. Zayyana’s innovative leadership, expressing confidence in his ability to elevate the ministry to greater heights.
She urged staff to remain proactive in carrying out their duties to ensure the ministry’s objectives are met and the state’s development goals are realized.
