The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged stakeholders in Zamfara State to unite in efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability across the state.
The State Commandant, CC Sani Mustapha, made the appeal on Monday in Gusau while addressing officers and men of the Corps during the commemoration of the 2025 International Day of Peace.

Speaking on the theme of this year’s celebration, “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” Mustapha, who represented the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, said the occasion serves as a reminder of the United Nations’ call for 24 hours of global non-violence and ceasefire.
He noted that insecurity remains a national concern, with insurgency, banditry, militancy and kidnapping affecting different regions of the country, stressing that Zamfara has also been hard hit.

“In this situation, stakeholders in Zamfara must develop new approaches to bring peace back to our communities,” he said.
The Commandant applauded Governor Dauda Lawal’s commitment to security and called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, herders, and farmers to play active roles in peacebuilding efforts.
He also appealed to groups involved in violent activities to set aside grievances and embrace dialogue in the interest of the state and the country.
