
Police operatives in Zamfara State Police Command under CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello have neutralized 11 suspected bandits following a deadly confrontation in Yarkatsinan Laka Community of Bungudu Local Government Area after armed attackers invaded the settlement.

The attack took place on April 7, 2026, around 5:55 p.m., when more than 50 bandits riding motorcycles and armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the community. In response, a Police Strike Unit quickly engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel, killing 11 of them, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
During a condolence visit, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Muhammad Bello, sympathized with the affected families and the entire community of YarKatsinan Laka, assuring them of the Command’s resolve to strengthen security operations and maintain peace in the area.

He further urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing useful and timely information to help curb criminal activities and improve safety.
Tragically, two police personnel and three civilians lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting residents, while another officer who sustained injuries is currently receiving treatment and recovering.
