OPFY Troops Rescue 13 Kidnap Victims in Zamfara

Military forces operating under the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued 13 kidnap victims following a series of precision intelligence-led missions across Zamfara State.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, these missions reveals the military’s commitment to restoring security in the North West. He noted that the successful operations have denied terrorists the ability to move freely and continue to exert necessary pressure on criminal elements throughout the theatre of operation.

The operation, which targeted terrorist strongholds in the Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, marks a significant blow to criminal networks currently operating in the region.

The first breakthrough occurred in Bagega, where troops acting on credible intelligence tracked armed terrorists moving toward Tungan Kudaku in Anka. Upon engaging the suspects with superior firepower, the bandits were forced to flee, abandoning a makeshift camp where five civilians were found and safely rescued.

Shortly after, a second operation in Ungwan Rogo, Kaura Namoda, resulted in a fierce firefight that sent terrorists retreating in disarray. Soldiers successfully liberated eight additional captives and recovered two vehicles during the engagement. All 13 rescued individuals have since been handed over to relevant authorities to receive necessary support and care as troops maintain a dominant presence across the state.
