Abducted female students of Federal University Gusau regain freedom

The two female students of Federal University Gusau who were abducted at their rented hostel in Sabon Gida village of Bungudu Local government area have regained freedom today (Friday)

The development was disclosed by the Zamfara state students Association (ZAMSSA) federal University Gusau chapter in a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the association, Comrade Umar Abubakar and made available to SMARTS NEWS 

Though it was not clear whether ransom was paid or not before releasing the students of Microbiology Department of the university.

“The two abducted  female students of Microbiology Department of the university regained their freedom early today Friday 14 April 2023 and reunited with their families safe and healthy after 12 days in captivity.” the pres release read in part

The Zamfara State Students Association Federal University gusau chapter ZAMSSA FUGUS. wholeheartedly congratulates and rejoice with the family of the victim, management, staff and students of federal university Gusau  over the safe release of the two female students abducted from the institution on 2nd April, 2023 by armed bandits at sabon gida village in Bungudu LGA. 

The two abducted  female students of Microbiology Department of the university regained their freedom early today Friday 14 April 2023 and reunited with their families safe and healthy after 12 days in captivity.

We rejoice most sincerely with the school management and parents of the children who had to go through the trauma of this abduction at an unimaginable pain and anguish.

We commend the commitment of the school management and their tireless efforts for the release of the abducted students.

We commend the professionalism, patriotism and untiring efforts of our security agencies for their painstaking efforts which contributed in no small way to the release of the kidnapped students

We commend the efforts of our fellow students for their prayers, and other sisters associations for their interest, cooperation and assistance in securing the release of the kidnapped students.

However, while basking in the euphoria of the release and return to the family of these students for which we are eternally grateful to the Almighty Allah S.W.A, we demand the following:

1. Government must ensure that the released students are accessed post traumatic debriefing and so also their parents.

2. We call on the security agencies to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators and sponsors of this inhuman and criminal act, no matter how long it takes, and make sure that this incident never happens to any of our Student.

3. We call on the government at all levels to enhance the security apparatus of the state through the creation of a functional synergy between the security agencies, community and the students for improved security network in our dear institution.

Once again, we rejoice with the parents of the released abductees and call for all hands to be on deck towards plugging our security loopholes which is a threat to our existence as students.
