Jubilation as Troops kill terrorist kingpin in Zamfara

Troops of the 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have killed a notorious terrorist kingpin, Alhaji Ma’oli, in a decisive operation on December 26, 2024, in Mai Sheka village, near Kunchin Kalgo town in Zamfara State.

Ma’oli, who had long terrorized the residents of Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, and surrounding areas in Bilbis, Tsafe Local Government Area, was notorious for imposing illegal levies on the local population. His reign of terror had caused immense suffering for many in the region.

The successful neutralization of Ma’oli has brought much-needed relief and excitement to locals, who have long been living in fear under his criminal activities.

The operation was launched after receiving intelligence reports about terrorists on motorcycles operating in the Bilbis axis.

The swift response by Operation Fansan Yamma troops not only thwarted a planned attack on local communities but also reinforced the commitment of the Joint Task Force to safeguard the area from further terrorist activities.

In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, affirmed the operation’s success and reiterated the Joint Task Force’s commitment to pursuing and neutralizing remaining terrorists and their collaborators across the region.

“Operation Fansan Yamma will continue to work diligently alongside local communities to restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and beyond,” Abdullahi stated.

The killing of Ma’oli is seen as a giant step toward restoring peace in the Bilbis area and a testament to the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian military to combat terrorism and criminality in the North West.

Residents in the affected areas are now hopeful that this victory will pave the way for lasting security and development in the region.
