Man to die by hanging in Zamfara for killing friend over N100 dispute

Zamfara State High Court of Justice sentenced one person to death by hanging and another one to life in prisonment for culpable homicide and attempted armed robbery respectively.

Reading the judgment on the case of culpable homicide on the accused person, Anas Dahiru of Unguwar Dallatu area of Gusau in Zamfara state who was accused for killing his friend, Shamsu Ibrahim with knife for just one hundred Naira dispute in the year 2017, the presiding, justice Mukhtar Yusha’u said having listened to both sides he convicted Anas for killing his friend.

Justice Yusha’u therefore sentenced the convict to death by hanging as enshrined in section 221 of the panel code.

In a related development, the presiding judge also convicted one Sadiqu Abubakar for attempted armed robbery in Bungudu local government area of Zamfara State.

Sadiqu was convicted for attacking one business man in Runji village of Bungudu local government who gallantly arrested the amed rubber and handed him over to police.

Justice Mukhtar Yusha’u said having heard from both parties involved in the case, he convicted Sadiqu Abubakar under section 221 of the panel code and hereby sentence to life in prisonment.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the counsel to the plaintiff Barrister Mansur Lawal, Assistant Director public prosecution, Zmafara state ministry of justice said the armed robbery case started in the year 2021 and they welcomed the judgment.

On his part, the counsel to the two convicts Barrister Muhammad Ahmad Jamo who is the coordinator,  legal Aid Council,  Zamfara State office said the judgment will serve as deterrent to others even though he disclosed that they will look at the possibility to appeal the case
