The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State received a major boost in Tambuwal Local Government Area as three councillors, a former vice chairman and several leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially defected to the ruling party, alongside a cash donation of ₦10 million to strengthen party mobilization.

The donation was announced by the Chief of Staff, Government House Sokoto, Alhaji Aminu Haliru Dikko, during the decamping ceremony held at the Sultan Muhammadu Maccido Institute for Qur’anic and General Studies, Sokoto.

The ₦10 million cash support was donated to the Contact, Mobilization and Enlightenment Committee of APC in Tambuwal LGA.Speaking at the event, Alhaji Dikko reminded the people of Tambuwal of the numerous developmental projects executed and ongoing under the administration of Governor Ahmad Aliyu.

He said the projects, which include road construction, water supply, electricity, health and education, align with the governor’s Smart Innovative Agenda for transforming Sokoto State.

He disclosed that since the inception of the present administration, no fewer than 83 indigenous of Tambuwal Local Government have been appointed into various political offices, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive governance and fair representation.

The Chief of Staff further revealed that about 2,570 APC supporters from polling unit level to ward and local government executives are currently receiving financial support from the state government. He also stated that 1,121 special advisers in the local government are benefiting from what he described as the dividends of democracy.

According to him, Tambuwal Local Government has also recorded massive social intervention programmes, noting that 2,750 people benefited from the NG-CARES programme with not less than ₦200,000 each, while 8,531 residents received grants of at least ₦100,000 each under the livelihood support programme.

Alhaji Dikko commended Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamako and Governor Ahmad Aliyu for their strong welfare policies, while expressing concern over some political office holders who, according to him, have failed to support their people despite earning public salaries.

In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Isah Sadiq Acida, warmly welcomed the defectors and described their decision as a clear sign of the party’s growing strength in Tambuwal. He said the stakeholders’ meeting was aimed at reuniting APC members and repositioning the party for future electoral success.

Alhaji Acida called on the people of Tambuwal Local Government to once again vote for Governor Ahmad Aliyu in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that APC would emerge victorious. He thanked party members and event organizers for their commitment and support toward strengthening the party in the state.
