Zamfara State House of Assembly suspended 8 members of the house for alleged misconduct and bridging the laws Governing the affairs of the state assembly.
During a special plenary session of the house today (Monday) majority leader of the house, Hon. Bello Muhammad Mazawaje who moved a motion to take disciplinary action against the eight members of the house.
The house leader alleged that, the said eight members held an illegal sitting with a messe that doesn’t belong to the house and in absentia of many officers that their presence is prerequisite to any sitting of the house.
He also accused the members for breaking into the offices of the House Clark, Sergeant at Arms and denying other members access to the assembly chamber during the session he described as “cangaroo”
In their separate support to the motion, Deputy speaker of the House, Hon. Adamu Aliyu, PDP, Gummi II constituency; Hon Rilwanu Na-Gambo, PDP Anka Constituency and Hon. Hamisu A. Faru, PDP, Bukkuyum South constituency accused the suspended members of gross misconduct, playing politics with issues of security saying the state government is doing well in addressing the menace of insecurity bedeviling the state.
However, the Minority Whip of the House Hon. Nura Dahiru, APC, Birnin Magaji constituency, cautioned the house not turn the issue at stake to mean different, as the accused members are both from PDP and APC, saying there was the need to resolve the issue amicably as it was meant for the betterment of the people of Zamfara State.
The suspended members were, Hon. Bashar Abubakar, PDP, Bukkuyum North; Amiru Ahmad keta, PDP, Tsafe west; Ibrahim T. Tukur, APC, Bakura; Faruk Musa Dosara, APC, Maradun South; Nasiru Abdullahi maru, PDP, Maru North; Basiru Bello, PDP, Bungudu west; Shamsu Hassan Basko, APC, Talata Mafara North and Bashar Aliyu, PDP Gummi 1 (PRO-TEMPORE speaker).
Earlier, 18 members of the 24 members of the house have announced closure of the assembly until the security situation of the state is improved, which was subsequently opposed by the other faction of the house in a statement by the Chief Press secretary of the house Bello Madaro that said, the leadership of the house is intact.
