Zamfara: APC Excos withdraw suspension of State Chairman, pass vote of confidence

The executive officers (Excos) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Galadima Ward in the Gusau local government area of Zamfara State have retracted their suspension of the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, and instead passed a vote of confidence in his leadership.

During a press conference held at the APC Party Headquarters in Gusau, eight out of sixteen Excos from Galadima Ward distanced themselves from what they described as the purported suspension of the state chairman.

They claimed they had been misled into signing an attendance sheet, which was later manipulated to serve the interests of a senatorial aspirant from their ward, rather than to suspend the party chairman.

Out of the 27 Excos of Galadima Ward, 19 have now expressed their support for Maikatako, reversing their previous stance. The Excos submitted a Notice of Withdrawal of the suspension to the Gusau Local Government Chairman of the APC, Tijjani Abubakar Dan Ayya, who promptly handed it over to the State Chairman, represented by the party’s Secretary, Ibrahim Umar Birnin Magaji.

Nasiru, the Publicity Secretary of Galadima Ward, explained that they were deceived into signing the suspension letter under the pretense of attending a meeting with a senatorial aspirant. He stated that the attendance sheet was later used for political maneuvering by unpatriotic party members.

During the handover of the Notice of Withdrawal, the Gusau local government APC Chairman, Tijjani Abubakar Dan Ayya, highlighted that the letter reaffirmed the Excos’ loyalty to Maikatako and the APC leadership. Ibrahim Umar Birnin Magaji, the State Secretary, commended the Excos for their prompt reversal of the controversial suspension.

He urged all APC members to remain calm and united in their efforts to recapture Zamfara State by 2027.

The State Secretary also issued a stern warning that the party would not tolerate unconstitutional actions and would take steps to punish those responsible for creating discord within the party.

He emphasized that the APC’s popularity in Zamfara State remains strong, and unity is crucial for the party’s future success.

This development comes in the wake of a recent letter, made public, which announced the suspension of the State Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, signed by sixteen executive members of Galadima Ward.
