
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its allegiance to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its determination to strengthen cooperation with sister security agencies, state governments and host communities in the quest for lasting peace and security.

The Commander of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Mustapha Jimoh, made this known while speaking with journalists after the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day ceremony. He explained that the annual event is meant to honour fallen heroes who laid down their lives in defence of Nigeria’s unity, sovereignty and stability.
Brigadier General Jimoh said the officers and men of 1 Brigade, responsible for security operations in Zamfara and Kebbi States, remain fully committed to their constitutional responsibilities and to joint operations with other security agencies across the region. He appreciated the governments and people of both states for their continued support and cooperation.

He described the sacrifices of fallen soldiers as a lasting inspiration to serving personnel and future generations, praying that their efforts would never be in vain.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Nakwada, noted that despite the severe security challenges faced by the state in recent years, the Armed Forces and other security agencies have shown remarkable courage and dedication in restoring peace and stability.

Nakwada assured the military of the state government’s sustained support, particularly in the areas of logistics, welfare and intelligence-led operations, in synergy with the Federal Government. He extended sympathy to the families of fallen officers, especially widows and children, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to programmes aimed at improving their welfare.
The SSG urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information, while calling on citizens to uphold unity, peace and patriotism.
The ceremony was attended by the Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Warrah Idris; the Commander of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Mustapha Jimoh; the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba; as well as lawmakers, the Chief Judge, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
