NAPTIP Arraigns Man Over Alleged Sexual Exploitation of 12-Year-Old in Zamfara

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Zamfara State Command, has arraigned a suspect, Alhaji Sabitu Modomawa of Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, before the Federal High Court in Gusau over the alleged sexual exploitation of a 12-year-old girl.

The State Commander of NAPTIP, Zamfara Command, Aliyu A. Sarkin Sudan, disclosed this in a statement issued on behalf of the agency.

He said the arraignment, which took place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, followed thorough investigations that revealed the alleged abuse resulted in the minor becoming pregnant. The victim has since delivered a baby boy.

According to the agency, the suspect was charged on a two-count charge bordering on sexual exploitation of a minor. He pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him in court.

The presiding judge adjourned the case to April 27, 2026, for the commencement of trial. The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) with a condition to provide a civil servant resident in Zamfara State as surety in like sum.

However, he was remanded at the Gusau Correctional Facility pending the fulfillment of the bail conditions.
