Police Arrest Two Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Car in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered stolen property after an attack on a resident in Gusau early Monday morning.

Police sources said the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on March 9, 2026, when the suspects allegedly attacked Bilyaminu Isa Sani at his home in the Unguwar Gwaza area of Gusau Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Mustapha Abubakar from Mareri and Ahmed Ibrahim of Unguwar Gwaza, reportedly stabbed the victim with a knife during the assault. He suffered injuries to his neck and left arm while trying to defend himself.

The attackers reportedly stole his Toyota Corolla, two iPhone 7 phones, three ATM cards and phone chargers before fleeing.

Police officers later intercepted the suspects at the Yankara border between Zamfara and Katsina states while they were attempting to escape. They were arrested by a stop-and-search team led by ASP Goma Ibrahim of the 42 Police Mobile Force in Gusau.

The stolen vehicle and other items were recovered from the suspects.Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, confirmed the arrest and reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crime across the state.

He urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely information that could help prevent criminal activities.

Police said investigations are ongoing and the suspects will face legal action after the probe is concluded.
