Atiku defeats Tinubu in Buhari’s Katsina State

The Presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has defeated his closest rival, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, Katsina state.

The Returning Officer of the state, Professor Muazu Abubakar Gusau, while announcing the result in the early hours of Monday said Atiku polled a total of 489,045 votes to defeat Mr Tinubu who got 482, 283 making a difference of 6,762.

Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) got 69,386 votes while Peter Obi of the labor Party (LP) polled 6,376

Although Atiku won in only 13 local government areas out of 34 in the state, but he went ahead to defeat Mr Tinubu of the APC who won in 21 local governments including Daura, the local government of President Buhari.
