The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Zamfara State Chapter, find it expedient once again to address you this morning on the recent uncovered sinister plan by the leadership of the All Progressive Congress in the State, to make our State ungovernable through carefully orchestrated covert and unconventional operations aimed at truncating democratic tenants and attempting to influence the outcome of the judgement of the election tribunal in favour of the APC.
In a widely circulated recorded conversation, a staunch supporter of the APC, Malam Anas Anka, the Managing Editor of Thunder Blowers, an online TV station openly boasted of how he was contracted by a Chieftain of the APC, former Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Senator Abdul’azeez Abubakar Yari, presently a serving Senator of the Federal Republic to bribe members of the Zamfara State House Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings on the Speaker of the House. In the same recording, Anas also made damning allegations on the Judiciary particularly the Judges of the elections tribunal who he unequivocally stated were induced to issue advanced judgement in favour of the APC long before the day of judgement has been announced by the tribunal.
Under normal circumstances, our Party would have dismissed the entire episode as mere campaign of calumny that has become the hallmark of the local chapter of the APC, but we feel compelled and duty bound as a congregation of responsible citizens that bear true allegiance to the Federal Republic to bring this issue to the notice of authorities in order to forestall the possibility of breakdown of law and order as well as protect the integrity of the judiciary which by this leaked recording by Anas Anka has subjected to question. Can our Party be blamed if at this point we are able to even subconsciously establish a connection with the verdict that has just been passed by the Election Tribunal over our Bungudu West State Assembly seat with the allegation that Anas Anka has levelled against the judiciary? We have instructed our lawyers to immediately file an appeal with the hope the Judiciary will seize the opportunity to correct any potential reason for miscarriage of justice that may have gone unnoticed.
Our Party wishes to call on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to order a full investigation on this allegation of foul play on the part of the Judges of the Tribunal as levelled against them by Anas sani Anka and also all other allegations as divulged on the audio tape. We appeal to the DSS to invite the Editor in Chief of Thunder Blowers for questioning and retrieval of the yet to be announced judgements he claims to have in his possession on the outstanding cases of the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections petitions currently at the Tribunal.
We wish to also call the former Governor of Zamfara and distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic representing Zamfara West to as a matter of urgency clear his name from the allegations of bribery, financial inducement and corruption levelled against him by Anas Anka.
We demand an immediate investigation on the activities of Thunder Blowers and its sponsors. We call on the Inspector General of Police to order investigation on Anas Sani Anka and Thunder Blowers. We have instructed our State Assembly members to reconvene sitting immediately and consider instituting civil litigation against him for defamation of character and malicious intent.
The Zamfara PDP Chapter is committed to promoting good governance in all tiers of government. We remain grateful to Allah SWT for gifting us with a purposeful leader in the person of Dauda Lawal whose visionary style of leadership has already started making impact on the lives of citizens.
We wish to reaffirm our loyalty and commitment to the Nigerian Project. We remain resolute in our support for policies and programs of Federal Government in line with Mr President’s transformation agenda.
We urge all our members to remain law abiding and avoid any act that may lead to the breakdown of laws and order.
Long live Zamfara State
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
