OPFY Troops Kill Terrorist Commanders in Precision Strike in Zamfara

The Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully neutralized several high-profile terrorists and destroyed a strategic meeting point in Tumfa Village, Shinkafi Local Government Area. The coordinated air and land offensive, executed on May 10, 2026 disrupted a major gathering of notorious terrorist leaders and commanders from across the West African sub-region who had converged to plan coordinated attacks against communities in the North West.

According to a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the operation was the result of a direct response to credible intelligence.

The targeted hideout, a building concealed by thick vegetation and mango trees on the northern outskirts of Tumfa Village, served as a hub for criminal elements to strategize their activities.

The mission was carried out by Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in seamless collaboration with the Air Component. A precision airstrike leveled the identified structure, with Battle Damage Assessments (BDA) confirming the elimination of several terrorists. In the wake of the strike, remaining elements were observed fleeing the scene in disarray.

Current reports from the field indicate that ground troops are maintaining a strong presence in the area, conducting exploitation and clearance operations. Aerial surveillance has also detected attempts by terrorist associates to evacuate casualties, and military efforts remain ongoing to eliminate any fleeing remnants and consolidate the gains of the strike.

The Theatre Command has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining this aggressive momentum against bandits and criminal elements. Officials continue to urge the public to support security agencies by providing timely information to ensure the continued peace and security of the North West region.
