The Zamfara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denounced the purported suspension of its chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani.
The statement, issued by Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC Publicity Secretary for Zamfara State, dismissed the suspension as baseless and unfounded.
The controversy stemmed from a group claiming to be executives of the party’s Galadima Ward in Gusau local government area.
According to the press release, these individuals, alleged to be disgruntled promoters with ulterior motives, sought to create discord within the party ranks.
The APC asserts that the suspension lacks validity as it did not follow constitutional channels for addressing grievances.
Moreover, the party accuses certain politicians of orchestrating such disruptions to sow seeds of discord within the APC, mirroring similar incidents in other states like Kano.
The press release suggests a larger conspiracy aimed at weakening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Critical of the media’s role, the APC urges journalists to verify information with the party headquarters before publishing. The absence of official party insignia on the document purportedly announcing the suspension further fuels suspicions of its authenticity.
The APC vows to investigate the origins of the purported suspension, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order within the party.
As tensions escalate, Zamfara State braces for further political maneuvering amidst allegations of internal strife within the APC.
Earlier, the APC Galadima Ward in Gusau Local Government, Zamfara State, has expelled the state APC chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, citing his incompetence to lead the party in the state.
Members of the ward expressed their loss of confidence in him and aimed to rescue the party from what they deemed as his poor leadership.
Alhaji Garba Bello, the spokesperson and vice chairman of the ward, revealed that 16 out of 27 executive members signed the decision to dismiss Tukur Danfulani from the party during a press conference held in Gusau, the state capital, on Saturday.
