Zamfara lawmakers begin LG budget defense

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has commenced the 2025 budget defense for the state’s 14 local government councils, starting with Gusau and Bakura local governments.

Chairman of the Adhoc Committee on Local Government Councils, Hon. Hamisu A. Faru Nasarawa, who represents Bukkuyum South, stated that the 2025 budget aims to reflect reality and complement Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration in addressing grassroots challenges.

He assured that the Seventh Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, will ensure proper budget implementation and accountability.

The committee urged LG authorities to prioritize key sectors such as security, healthcare, education, agriculture, roads, and electricity.

Presenting their budget proposals, Gusau LG Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Imam and Bakura LG Chairman Alhaji Saidu Dan Bala pledged to implement people-oriented projects and enhance internally generated revenue.

The defense session was attended by committee members, including Deputy Speaker Hon. Adamu Aliyu Gummi and Majority Leader Hon. Bello Muhammad Mazawajje Tsafe.
