In a bid to ensure sanity in the operation of Journalists in Zamfara State, the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has Appealed to members of the union to be professionals before, during and after the forthcoming 2023 General Elections.
The appeal was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Union, Ibrahim Musa Maizare and Ibrahim Ahmad Gada respectively.
In the statement, the NUJ charges it’s members to strictly adhere to laws and ethics of the profession in the discharge of their legitimate duties.
The NUJ also called on members to be just and fair to all political parties in the state, saying journalists must be apolitical while discharging their duties.
The officers noted that, the union vowed not to support any personal bias, malicious, fabricated stories, Misinformation, by its members and therefore advised politicians to support and cooperate with the Journalists to enable them discharge their duties diligently.
However, the union vowed to stand for its members in the discharge of their constitutional mandate before, during and after the elections. They also prayed for devine intervention to end the lingering insecurity that crippled all human endeavors in the state and the country in general.
