
Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, has donated food items, cows and cash to Christian groups and communities in Zamfara State to support the 2025 Christmas celebrations.

The donation, made to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), APC Igbo and Yoruba wings, as well as Igbo and Yoruba communities in the state, comprised 310 bags of 50kg rice, 16 cows and ₦1 million cash.
During the distribution, Senator Yari urged Christians to use the Christmas season to pray for the restoration of peace, improved security and lasting development in Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.
A breakdown of the items shows that CAN Zamfara State chapter received 200 bags of rice, 10 cows and ₦1 million cash. The APC Igbo Wing got 20 bags of rice and one cow, while the APC Yoruba Wing received 10 bags of rice and one cow. The Igbo Community in Zamfara was given 50 bags of rice and two cows, while the Yoruba Community received 30 bags of rice and two cows.

Receiving the items, the Chairman of CAN in Zamfara State, Afolabi Tajuddern Azeez, thanked Senator Yari for the gesture and called on Christians to continue praying for peace and stability in the state. He assured that the items would be shared fairly among Christian faithful.
Also speaking, the Chairman of APC Igbo Wing in Zamfara, Emmanuel Anokwuru, and the Chairman of the Yoruba Christian Community, Engr. Joshua Tauwo, described the donation as timely and humanitarian, noting that it would ease the hardship faced by Christians during the festive period.
Earlier, Alhaji Sani Garba, who represented Senator Yari at the event, said the donation was an annual tradition to ensure Christians celebrate Christmas and the New Year in joy. He appealed for fairness and transparency in the distribution of the items.

Alhaji Sani Garba was accompanied by Alhaji Abdullahi Ja’o, who represented the Chairman of the AA Yari Political Organisation, Dr. Lawal M. Liman, and other officials of the organisation.
